English Springer Spaniel: Health Issues & Personality
English Springer Spaniel:
The English Springer Spaniel is considered the most robust of all the spaniels, and is thought to have the most pleasant disposition, too. It is quick to learn, obedient, easy to train, and eager to please. It enjoys the company of its family and is patient and affectionate with children (It is one of the top 10 most affectionate dogs).
This strong, agile, medium-size sporting dog takes its name from its use by hunters for "springing" forward to drive game out into the open. It is the oldest of the spaniel stock, and is probably the forebearer of most spaniel breeds.
A healthy English Springer needs plenty of space for exercise. Brush its hair often and briskly. After outdoor activity, inspect the coat for parasites. Check the insides of the ears carefully.
